Laser hair removal is a method of removing unwanted hair using laser radiation, which destroys the hair follicle. It is suitable for long-lasting results and is performed as a course of treatments.
Laser hair removal consists of a basic course and maintenance treatments. The basic course usually consists of 8–10 sessions, during which 70–80% of the hair is removed. Maintenance sessions are performed 1–3 times per year, if necessary.
Hair without pigment (melanin) — such as very light blond or gray hair — cannot be removed by laser equipment.
Light/red hair, dark or tanned skin, Middle Eastern skin types, hormone-dependent areas (face, bikini, knees, elbows, fingers), unstable hormonal background, and age under 18 — all require a greater number of sessions.
There are three main phases of hair growth: Anagen (active growth phase), Catagen (transition phase) and Telogen (resting phase). The laser only affects hair in the active growth phase. This is why treatments are performed as a course — to “catch” all hairs in the right stage. Maintenance sessions are not needed because hair was not fully removed, but because some hairs may “wake up” and grow only a long time after the main course. Hair that was treated with the laser during its active growth phase will never grow back.
For maximum results, it is important to follow the schedule of both planned and maintenance treatments.
Skin Care Before and After Laser Hair Removal
- For areas of arms and legs, apply regenerating and moisturizing products (Aloe Vera / Bepanthen cream) 7 days before and 7 days after treatment to prevent dryness.
- Do not sunbathe, use self-tanner, or visit tanning beds for 3–5 days after treatment.
- Avoid saunas, steam baths, and swimming pools for 3 days after treatment.
- For 2–3 days, bathe in warm (not hot) water.
- Avoid intensive sports (sweating) for 1–2 days.
- Do not apply alcohol-based products on treated areas for 3 days (to avoid overdrying the skin).
- 7 and 14 days after treatment, exfoliate the treated areas to help remove shedding hair and prevent ingrown hairs.
How to Know if Laser Hair Removal Is Working? What If I Am Not Satisfied With the Result?
Motus AX Moveo laser: Within 3 weeks after treatment, hair falls out in patches. If this does not happen, please contact our salon for a consultation. Consultations can be done no earlier than 3 weeks and no later than 4 weeks after the treatment.
AlexStar laser: After 1 month, you need to perform a control shave. Afterwards, you will notice a reduction in hair density.
Why does hair seem to grow again 2–3 days after treatment?
On the 2nd–3rd day after treatment, the hair shaft is pushed out of the skin, making it look as if the hair is growing again. The visible effect will appear within 4 weeks.
Why does the amount of shedding hair differ after each session?
After the first session, the largest amount of hair falls out. In all subsequent sessions, the number is smaller. Therefore, if your first and second treatments were done by different specialists and you saw less shedding after the second, this does not mean that the parameters were set incorrectly — it is simply how the treatment works.
Why does it sometimes seem like there is more hair after a few sessions?
After the second, third, or fourth session, hair growth may be activated. It may look as though there is more hair, but this is a normal effect and means the treatment is working correctly.
Can I choose a specific specialist?
All of our specialists follow the same rules and protocols, providing the same quality of service. We therefore do not assign clients permanently to a particular specialist. If, however, you wish to always see the same specialist, please request this when booking each appointment.
What if I have side effects, such as itching or redness?
We strongly recommend that you contact our salon for a consultation and further advice, or consult a doctor. To avoid such situations, it is important to follow the recommendations of your specialist and this document.
